James Youngsang Ryu

As SK Telecom’s President and CEO, Mr.Ryu is focusing on shaping SK Telecom into a global AI company. Taking a leadership role as head of ICT Committee-SK SUPEX council and AI TF of SK group, CEO Mr.Ryu has been committed to consolidating SK group’s AI capabilities, creating, and expanding the AI ecosystem.
Prior to his current role, Mr.Ryu served as President of SK Telecom’s MNO Business. He led the successful launch of the world’s first 5G mobile service and Korea’s largest OTT media service. He held executive level positions within various SK affiliates. Drawing upon extensive experience and expertise in business development and strategic growth, he took an integral part in the acquisition of SK Hynix, SK Shieldus and Toshiba’s Semiconductor business to expand the business portfolio of the SK Group.
Mr.Ryu received his MBA from the University of Washington in Seattle. He holds a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University.
