Vance Shipley founded SigScale in 2015, with a mission to develop greenfield, cloud native, software solutions for communications service providers' core networks and support systems. SigScale is an open source company, publicly publishing source code and license free binary packages with subscription based commercial support. Vance has over thirty years’ experience in telecommunications where his focus has been on the convergence of compute and network domains. He has developed protocol stacks from 2G SS7 through 5G SBIs, and authored several TM Forum Open APIs and information guides where his focus has been on the management plane for softwarized network functions and ODA Components. Vance has had leadership roles in wireless and wireline operators and infrastructure vendors over his career where he has focused on innovation in service creation. SigScale provides an execution environment for operators' customer service logic with network stack integration. Vance is currently focused on universal computing with WebAssembly and its application in the Edge for cloud services product offerings including functions-as-a-service(FaaS).
